NO ENERGY TO WASTE
Our purpose is to accelerate the availability of clean energy and secure supply of energy in a responsible way. Our modular molten salt reactor is the ideal companion to wind and solar power, using the energy still available within existing nuclear waste. Able to provide millions of people and industrial sites with all the clean energy needed. A stable, flexible, and reliable source of energy, day and night, rain or shine.
Our history
Thorizon was founded by Lucas Pool and Sander de Groot as a spin-off from NRG, the national nuclear research institute of the Netherlands, where our technology was developed under the radar for years. In the Summer of 2022, we secured EUR 12.5 million of funding to develop the conceptual design of our first reactor: Thorizon One. Since then, we have rapidly developed into an ambitious Amsterdam-based deep-tech company with extensive experience in the nuclear sector. Driven by the urge to contribute to the energy transition as fast as possible. In 2023, we opened our second office in Lyon to be part of the strong nuclear technology community in France.
